Than a mom..Would love to be a mom to older child..Everyone tells me not a good route..

I have no personal experience with fostering/adopting or taking on older children, but I don't think it is always a bad thing. At our church there is a family who adopted a girl they foster-parented, out in Texas, where they lived then. From the photos I've seen, it looks like she was older grade school when she came into their lives. She is a black girl and the family is white. Anyway, she is a young adult now, and clearly an integral part of their family. Her adopted sister is old enough to be her mother! Yet they relate as sisters. And her nephew is two or three years younger than she is, so they are more like siblings or cousins. This young lady is very active in our church, has a lot of musical talent, and is pretty generally loved, first and most of all by her family. So I'd say that's an example where taking on an older child worked out beautifully for everyone.
