THEATER

Los Angeles Theater: 34 new works on stage this season

By Sandra Barrera, Los Angeles Daily News

“Breaking Through” stars Alison Luff as the lead Charlie Jane and “American Idol” alum Constantine Maroulis as Scorpio, a Sting-like rock star in his prime. It features a “hip, contemporary” score by newcomer Katie Kahanovitz and Emmy winner Cliff Downs, who has written and produced songs for such superstar entertainers as Wynonna Judd, Glen Campbell and Olivia Newton-John over the decades.

That article made me so happy. I also like the fact that it's the first play discussed. It also sounds like they may have bumped up C's part a bit -- doesn't really sound like a secondary role to me.

I agree, I think the first thing I read about the plot had Scorpio as older and a smaller part.

I hope this musical just soars, and flies all the way to BW!!!

Constantine Maroulis Retweeted Emily McNally (@emsings414):
So overwhelmed in every emotion by @SpringBway. Could barely breathe when leaving. Never before have I seen a show so stunning and powerful

Constantine Maroulis Retweeted Zach (@zachsgotlife):
Honestly can't remember the last time I was so thrilled and so moved by a production. @SpringBway is better than words can express.

Breaking Through: in the article cited above, it now says Scorpio is a rock star, not a pop star...
